Little Garden

Thanks to volunteers from River City Center, and three giant loads of composted dirt and horse manure, our little plot is ready for planting next spring!

The horticulture students at Diamond Oaks will be growing plants from seed for us over the winter.  Visit this website again in the spring to see what was grown. Possibilities: Daisy, Black-eyed Susan, Purple Cone Flower, Zinnias, Petunias and Snapdragons!

“Little Garden” Project Provides Free Flowers to Residents"

The Camp Washington Community Council has been awarded a Merit Grant through the City’s NSP.

The Little Garden project is based on the Shrebergarten public gardening program initiated in the early 1900’s in Berlin. A psychiatrist named Shreber knew that green space helps people feel good so he created flower and vegetable gardens on public plots. It is hoped that we can further green up Camp Washington by having residents plant flowers. Funds will be used to buy flowers and flower pots for those residents that want to spiff up their yards. Residents Mimi Rook and Sarah Hayes will coordinate the program.

Call Mimi at 328-8576 or Sarah at 281-3774.
